Music Video Editing

Last night in class, we had an opportunity to create music videos. We decided to go with sports highlights, since that was the main thing that I had done in the past and I could download videos from my YouTube channel for us to use. Here is the video that I helped our group come up with!

Here is the video we took a lot of the clips from. I made this one a while ago. Just for comparison.

Hopefully you are able to enjoy both!

DSLR Project

For my DSLR project, I had initially come up with an idea to do a fishing segment and how it was important to my family and I. I was going to go film it up in Montana, but due to time and equipment constraints, I decided to change it up. Since my radio piece was about the results of the coyote depredation program in Utah, I wanted to do something with this. I realized I hadn't explained the program to anyone and anyone who listened to my radio piece would be lost. So I decided to do a DSLR piece on the program itself; what it was, what it did, and what it's goals were. I put it together into feature piece... Kinda like I wanted it to air on a broadcast news station. Below is the final result!

Hopefully this explains the program a little better than my radio story did!

My First Radio Piece

The next project in class was to approach a radio station after we had written up a proposal idea for a story segment. Since I'm interested in the outdoors, it became a natural fit to do something with an outdoor theme. I decided to research Utah's Coyote Depredation program. I wanted to see if it had been effective in helping the mule deer population rebound (which it has been, by the way!). Here is my pitch/proposal.

She responded very quickly with this email.

I was able to get a green light if I made some revisions to my piece! I'm currently visiting with people involved with the story to see what kind of information I could get and who I could talk to. Wish me luck!

Reposting for a new blog

Originally, I had set up my blog through a work account that I had. For whatever reason, I was having the worst time publishing posts. So I'm copying all the text and pictures from them and posting them here. I'll start with my first post on the slideshow.

The slideshow was tricky for me. I didn't know exactly what we were supposed to do, since I missed the first day of class (I thought I was going to be taking a different class!). I tried to create a slideshow that represented my love of fishing. I used pictures and subtitles that explained the photo and what I was trying to show. Unfortunately, I missed the mark on this a little bit... I was supposed to have some audio in it! I didn't realize that.

I've tried to upload the slide show and make it work, but it's not. So instead, here is a picture of myself and my father (when I was just a little guy) that was in the slideshow. I started fishing young and I haven't stopped since!

A few years down the road and we're still fishing together...
