My First Radio Piece

The next project in class was to approach a radio station after we had written up a proposal idea for a story segment. Since I'm interested in the outdoors, it became a natural fit to do something with an outdoor theme. I decided to research Utah's Coyote Depredation program. I wanted to see if it had been effective in helping the mule deer population rebound (which it has been, by the way!). Here is my pitch/proposal.

Staples of Outdoor-Themed Segment: Fishing/Hunting updates, regulations/dates to be aware of, other outdoors news

I was able to send this proposal off the Lara Jones at KRCL radio... Below is my proposal email...

She responded very quickly with this email.

I was able to get a green light if I made some revisions to my piece! I'm currently visiting with people involved with the story to see what kind of information I could get and who I could talk to. Wish me luck!
